Boston Celtics Trade Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City Thunder

Wow… I guess old Perk’ was gonna be too expensive next year, so the Celts figured they better get some getting while the getting was good. Already thin at Center with injuries to Shaq and JO, the Boston Celtics bit the bullet and cleared out roster and cap space with several trades today, Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic.

Krstic is a Center, but not at Perkins’ level. Jeff Green was originally picked fifth in the 2007 NBA draft, the pick the Celtics traded to get all-time 3 Point Champion and “He Got Game” impresario Ray Allen. Mr. Jeff has been scoring a solid 15 points with more than five rebounds a game for OKC, so he’s solid. Knocks against him are that he’s not much of a rebound presence and can’t hit the three with any consistency. This is a Boston Celtics trade that will be talked about for a long time, I’m sure.

In separate deals, Luke Harangody and Semih Erden were both traded for 2nd round picks, and Marquis Daniels was sold off for cash.

So it was a big day for Boston and Senor Danny. There was no flinching going on. The Celtics now have roster space to pick up released veterans, and cap space to go after the new wave of free agents that are becoming available in the near future.

So long Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson, we enjoyed your play here with the Boston Celtics and wish you luck, except against the Celtics.

Breaking News: The Boston Celtics Beat the Los Angeles Lakers to take 3-2 NBA Finals Lead heading into Game 6 in Los Angeles. Nate Robinson was big once again coming off the bench and Paul Pierce was huge, matching Kobe Bryant almost point for point, as Kobe did almost the entire offensive production for the Lakers.

LA staged a furious comeback, and kept it close late, but Boston kept hitting big shots and free throws, and closed it out in the end.

The Celtics now head back to Los Angeles up three games to two, trying to bring home their 18th championship banner.
