It was awesome. Daniel Nava hits a Grand Slam on the first major league pitch he sees. I was sitting there watching the Red Sox put some offensive hurt on the reigning world champion Philadelphia Phillies, having just scored five runs in the first inning. They were continuing on the rampage they had started yesterday, building on their 12 – 2 shellacking, that wasn’t even that close, that the Red Sox had tagged the Phillies with.

The bases were loaded, nobody out. Score was 5 – 2. Up steps Daniel Nava. “Who’s this kid?”, I had barely finished thinking, when the first pitch came towards the plate… only to be promptly deposited in the Red Sox bullpen with a Daniel Nava first pitch swing. This was in his first ever at-bat in the Major Leagues. On the first pitch he ever saw.

Guess the pitcher thought he could sneak one by the kid. Guess again.

Nice work, Daniel Nava, hitting a grand slam on the first major league pitch you ever saw. Bravo.
