Texas Skate Boarder Rules

Our hero of the week, here at Blogosaurusstampede, is Jacob Isom the Texas skateboarder who stood up for what is right about this country of ours: tolerance and acceptance. And he stood against the bigotry and xenophobia that those who drape themselves with flags and crosses like to pretend they know the slightest thing about. We’ve all heard about Reverend Terry Jones

Israel and Palestinians Will Try again

Filed under: Breaking News,International News,Peace,Politics — Positronic Dave @ 3:45 am August 21, 2010

News that Israel and Palestinians will try again to hold peace talks with the aim of finally creating a Palestinian State and thereby end a decades-long struggle in the region reminds me of the story of Sisyphus. And I’m not just being a cynic here, nor much-less a ill-wisher towards these ends: I want to see Sisyphus make it up the bastard hill for once. The talks are scheduled to resume the 2nd of September, allowing Netanyahu those few extra, precious tanning days of late August. Also, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that he doesn’t have a thing to wear and needs to shop. Once again hosting this particular dinner party are U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barak Obama, who is not a Muslim, just so everyone’s clear on that. All the hot action will go down in Washington, D.C. in early September, so look for Fox News to find something in all that to complain about.

Hillary Clinton summed up the idea of renewed talks best when she said “A rabbit out of a hat? But Bullwinkle, that trick never works!” Still, she plans to give it a serious go, none the less. Why else would President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and King Abdullah of Jordan have been asked to bring both chips and dip? Since it’s been almost 2 years since the last Israel and Palestinians sit-down, talk-fest, I hope they brought plenty. This may take a while to work out.

Cheering in the sidelines, the peace mediators, Russia, the EU, the UN, are joining the US in expressing hope that a deal can be reached in less than a year’s time. Oh good, ’cause it’s taken more than 60 years up to now… time to get crackin’.

Even sour-puss Netanyahu said an agreement wasn’t impossible. Why, that’s almost a “Hell yeah!” from him. He then used the word “security” the way Dr. Laura rolls with the “N-word” in describing Israel’s cautious optimism and inflexible agenda items.

Ok, now
