This just in… Wiping out a Stanley Cup Championship drought lasting 39 years, the Boston Bruins resurrected the ghost of #4 Bobby Orr and soundly defeated the favored Vancouver Canucks 4 – 0 in the deciding game seven to will the NHL Stanley Cup trophy.

After falling behind 2 – 0 after two close defeats in Vancouver, the Bruins stormed back to take the next two in Boston by lopsided margins. Vancouver recovered to win another squeaker at home, but then the Bruins blasted their way to a win in game six, jumping out in front by a score of 4 – 0 and chasing the Canuck’s goalie in the process.

It all came down to game seven, back in Vancouver, where the Canucks had won all three previous contests in the series.

British Colombia’s first NHL Championship was not to be had, though, as the Bruins, behind stellar goaltending by Tim Thomas, the only American on the team, built up a big lead by the end of the second period and then hung on from there.
